In reference to the essay titled The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction by Walter Benjamin, I created something that would question and open discussion onto a more present time period of art making within the digital age. This book documents over 100 different repeated hyperlinks to my personalized Google search results of “The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction”. I did this to refer to something known as a “filter bubble” which is a website algorithm that selectively guesses what information a user would like to see based on information about that user or previous searches. Throughout this book, It was my intention to distribute ironic dispositions to contrast early reproduced and printed artworks to a present time of digital reproduction through the non-physical world of the Internet.
started on a new side project last weekend that I plan on working on for the next year or so in NYC and Los Angeles. probably won’t be posting much more from it except for cell phone snaps to my instagram.
Great great follow on Instagram. Curious to know more about the project.
An public art installation of my streetview work is up now on Jefferson blvd and Madison ave. Jefferson tower construction is the first of many plans to change the blvd and prohibit certain businesses from occupying the unit. My photograph speaks to the underlying gentrification and larger problems regarding power relations in America.
Up now until someone takes it down.
